Balboa is a form of swing dance that started as early as 1915 and gained in popularity in the 1930s and 1940s. It is danced to a wide variety of tempos, primarily in close embrace, and it is led with a full body connection. The art of Balboa is the subtle communication between the lead and follow, like weight shifts, that most viewers cannot see. As a result, Balboa is considered more of a "dancer's dance" than a "spectator's dance". Read more about Balboa on Wikipedia.

Lindy hop is an African American dance that evolved in New York City in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It was an organic fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular during its development but was predominantly based on jazz, tap, Breakaway and Charleston. Lindy hop co-evolved with jazz music and is a member of the swing dance family. It is frequently described as a jazz or street dance. Read more about Lindy Hop on Wikipedia.

The Samba originates from Brazil. It was and is danced as a festival dance during the street festivals and celebrations. The music has a joyful, contagious rhythm which makes even non-dancers want to get up and dance. When one sees pictures of people dancing at Carnival in Rio, it is the Samba.
